Dad served on the USCGC Polar Sea (WAGB-11), home port of Seattle. Per my dad they used black golf balls and had the shotgun ready in case of polar bears. Group photo, he is second from the right.

Too bad hes not a smoking hot baby otherwise you would have gotten lots of uploads.

Cool pics by the way, was he a researcher of some kind?

    2. I can think of a couple rounds that would’ve turned out differently if I opted for the shotgun instead of the extra wedge.

Bro, let me be honest here…

These photographs could easily be props to any Call of Cthulhu RPG campaign…

      Super cool, man! haha

    4. I was surprised at first that they were allowed to take a shotgun on the CG vessel, but bear protection makes sense. Although that weapon might not be my first choice for that.

    5. Your dad is a fuckin legend and looked cool while being one! I can only imagine the thrill of a boys night with polar bears roaming about.

    6. Great pictures. Golfers are a strange lot. An astronaut hit some shots on the moon. This comes close, lol.

Wow, a full sized Polar Sea. I was on her in the 80’s when she was about a foot shorter. Was that the circumnavigation of the North America trip?
